IT’S TIME TO DREAM AGAIN
“Characteristics of Those Who Pursue God-Dreams (Part Two)”
Pastor Doug Heisel – January 23, 2022
Characteristics of Those Who Receive and Pursue More God-Dreams
They go after GOD first.
They are FAITHFUL STEWARDS of what they have been entrusted with now.
They refuse to waste time fighting the WRONG battles and learn to control their EMOTIONS.
Their faith in God is deep and personal so that they SEE and DECLARE what can be not just what is.
Today…
They understand and embrace their God-given S.H.A.P.E.
Spiritual Gifts – God-given gifting that affects how you see and respond to people and situations
Heart – God-given concern and passion
Abilities – God-given aptitude
Personality – God-given temperament
Experiences – Positive and painful circumstances that God can leverage for a greater purpose (See the message, “You Are Shaped For Significance” from September 19, 2021)1 Samuel 17:38-39 — Saul had his own military clothes and armor put on David… (and David) tried to walk around, but he was not used to wearing those things. “I can't move with all this stuff on…”.
1 Samuel 17:39-40 — So David took off the armor and picked up his shepherd's stick. He went out to a stream and picked up five smooth rocks and put them in his leather bag. Then with his sling in his hand, he went straight toward Goliath.
They are willing to play SUPPORTING roles and RESOURCING roles in order to advance other God-Dreams.
1 Samuel 17:32-36 — David said to Saul, “Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.” Saul replied, “You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a young man, and he has been a warrior from his youth.” But David said to Saul, “Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it.
1 Chronicles 22:5 — David said, “My son Solomon is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the Lord should be of great magnificence and fame and splendor in the sight of all the nations. Therefore I will make preparations for it.” So David made extensive preparations before his death.
They base their outcomes on GOD’S power and blessing, rather than their own personal best.
1 Samuel 17:45 — David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.“
Their bold faith inspires OTHERS so that even greater advances can be made in God’s Kingdom.
1 Samuel 17:48-50 — As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground. So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone…
1 Samuel 17:52-53 — Then the men of Israel and Judah surged forward with a shout and pursued the Philistines to the entrance of Gath…When the Israelites returned from chasing the Philistines, they plundered their camp.
