DAVID
“Home Improvement… God’s Way”
Pastor Doug Heisel – June 16, 2024
1 Samuel 16:10-11 – Jesse presented his seven sons to Samuel. Samuel was blunt with Jesse, “God hasn’t chosen any of these.” Then he asked Jesse, “Is this it? Are there no more sons?” “Well, yes, there’s the runt. But he’s out tending the sheep.”
Genesis 37:3-4 – Jacob loved Joseph more than any of his other children because Joseph had been born to him in his old age. So one day Jacob had a special gift made for Joseph—a beautiful robe. But his brothers hated Joseph because their father loved him more than the rest of them. They couldn’t say a kind word to him.

Four Essentials for a Faith-Filled Home
Make the LORD and His WORD the foundation of your life and home.
Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
Joshua 24:15b – But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.Choose your FRIENDS wisely, and guard who you LISTEN to. Help your KIDS to do the same.
Proverbs 13:20 – Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.
Proverbs 17:17 – A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.Embrace that the most LOVING acts are rarely the EASY ones. Commit to doing them too.
2 Samuel 18:18 – During his lifetime Absalom had taken a pillar and erected it in the King’s Valley as a monument to himself, for he thought, “I have no son to carry on the memory of my name.” He named the pillar after himself, and it is called Absalom’s Monument to this day.
1 Kings 1:6 – Now his father, King David, had never disciplined him at any time, even by asking, “Why are you doing that?”
Ask the Lord for WISDOM to know what is right, and for His POWER to do what is right – even when it’s hard.Return to God’s GRACE and GOODNESS, no matter how far you’ve strayed or how often you have missed it in the past.
Psalm 145:18-19 – (David’s final Psalm) The Lord is righteous in all His ways and faithful in all He does. The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cry and saves them.
1 Kings 2:1-3 – As the time of King David’s death approached, he gave this charge to his son Solomon: “I am going where every man on earth must some day go. I am counting on you to be a strong and worthy successor. Obey the laws of God and follow all His ways; keep each of His commands written in the law of Moses so that you will prosper in everything you do, wherever you turn.
