CONTAGIOUS GENEROSITY

“The Disciples Commission”
Dr. Wayde Goodall – November 6, 2022

Mark 16:15,16 “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by not means harm them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Matthew 28:18-20 — “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always.”

Luke 24:46-50 — “He said to them…repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem”

Acts 1:8 — “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth.

The Commission to the Christian

  1. The TASK.

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature”

When Jesus gave the Commission, it was to only a few men. Jesus expected them to do what he commanded them to do and he expects us to do what he commanded them to do. The commission is not over—it is not finished.

  2. The TERMS.

“He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”

The terms are commitment to Jesus Christ — “He who believes”.

    Acts 4:12
    — “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Romans 10:13 — “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved”

Philippians 2:9-11 — “...the name, which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord...”

The confession of Jesus Christ—He...“is baptized”

    Mark 16:16
    — Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Acts 2:38 — “...Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Acts 10:48 — So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ…

Colossians 1:13 — ”He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us [transferred] into the kingdom of the Son of His love”

    Jesus is the ONLY WAY.
THE COMMISSION is a command that we must accept.
    The
TERMS of the commission are very clear.

  3. The TEST.

    Mark 16:20
    — “And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs.”

God’s divine power is available for those who “Go”and do what God has COMMANDED.

    Acts 28:3-6
    — When Paul was bitten by a deadly viper—he simply shook it off into the fire.

When you preach and teach the Gospel, expect: The sick to be healed when you pray for them. The demon possessed to be delivered. The miraculous will happen when necessary. The protection of God when you need it.

The Commission

The task is before us. The terms are clear. The supernatural tests will be with us.
