CONTAGIOUS GENEROSITY
“Living a Double-Blessed Life”
Pastor Doug Heisel – October 30, 2022
A GOD-BLESSED life will always be greater than “YOUR BEST” life!
Proverbs 10:22 — The Lord’s blessing is our greatest wealth. All our work adds nothing to it!
Biblical Principles About God’s Blessing From 2 Corinthians 9:6-15
Some blessings are CONDITIONAL and you get to CHOOSE how much or how little you get in on it.
2 Corinthians 9:6 — Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.ANYONE can get in on Biblical generosity and the blessings that flow from it.
2 Corinthians 9:7 — Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Biblical generosity is not measured by the AMOUNT of dollars you give but the size of the COMMITMENT you make.
Luke 21:1-4 — While Jesus was in the Temple, He watched the rich people dropping their gifts in the collection box. Then a poor widow came by and dropped in two small coins “I tell you the truth,” Jesus said, “this poor widow has given more than all the rest of them. For they have given a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she has.”Generosity is far more a SPIRITUAL action than it is a FINANCIAL transaction.
2 Corinthians 9:10 — Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.
Matthew 6:21 — For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The SECOND BLESSING is even greater than the first.
2 Corinthians 9:8 — And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work…
2 Corinthians 9:11 — You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion…
2 Corinthians 9:12-14 — This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you.Acts 20:35 — …the Lord Jesus Himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’
