“God’s Promise to Supply All Your Needs”

2 Peter 1:4 — Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

Philippians 4:19 — And my God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches, in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:10-19 — I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through Him who gives me strength. Yet it was good of you to share in my troubles. Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only; for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me aid more than once when I was in need. Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account. I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.

The premise of the promise: If you trust Me as your SOURCE I will be your SUPPLY.

The significance and beauty of generosity

  1. Generosity BLESSES and HELPS the receiver.

    ... you sent me aid again and again when I was in need.
    vs 14-16

  2. True generosity is a SPIRITUAL act, not merely a financial or practical transaction.

    ...what I desire is that more be credited to your account.
    vs 17

    1 Timothy 6:18-19 — "... Give happily to those in need, and always be ready to share whatever God has given you. By doing this, you will be storing up real treasure for yourselves in heaven -- it is the only safe investment for eternity!”

    Matthew 6:21 — Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

  3. God loves the SMELL of authentic generosity.

    ...They are a fragrant offering, and acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.

  4. My generosity connects me to the “419” promise.

    My God will use his wonderful riches in Christ Jesus to give you everything you need.
