LOVE-OLOGY
“Living Selfless in a Selfie World”
Pastor Doug Heisel – February 19, 2023
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 — Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
Mark 9:33-34 — They came to Capernaum. When (Jesus) was in the house, He asked them, "What were you arguing about on the road?" But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest.
Mark 9:30-32 — They left that place and passed through Galilee. Jesus did not want anyone to know where they were, because He was teaching His disciples. He said to them, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill Him, and after three days He will rise." But they did not understand what He meant and were afraid to ask Him about it.
Mark 9:35 — Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, "If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all.”
Mark 10:41 — When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John.
Mark 10:42-44 — And Jesus called them to Him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all.”
Mark 10:45 — For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.
God’s measure of greatness is discovered as I learn to LEVERAGE more time, talent, and resources for the benefit of others and the advancement of God’s KINGDOM.
