INFLUENCE

“Multiplying My Influence ”
Pastor Doug Heisel – September 3, 2023

Today’s story: Luke 10:30-37

…Jesus said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead.

A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.

But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him.

The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'

"Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?" The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him."

Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."

Questions from this story:

  1. Am I AVAILABLE no matter where, when, or how God wants to use me?

But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. (Vs 33)

  2. Am I willing to LEVERAGE more of what I have to influence more people for Jesus?

…bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. (Vs 34)

  3. Am I STRATEGIC in how I think about my influence?

The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’ (Vs 35)

    Colossians 4:5
    — Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity.

PRAY for more people, more often (for friends, coworkers, neighbors, family, Missionaries, etc).

LISTEN for more God-promptings and God-ideas.

    SOW more into the mission.

“Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.” (Vs 36-37)

    2 Corinthians 9:10-11
    — He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.
