CRUSHING IT
“Faithful Servanthood”
Pastor Ben Johnson – February 11, 2024
What Scripture teaches us about lasting change…
Romans 8:2-3 (TLB) – For the power of the life-giving Spirit - and this power is mine through Christ Jesus – has freed me from the vicious circle of sin and death… God put into effect a different plan to save us.
We are not on our OWN to change. Significant, positive, lasting change is not only possible, it is God’s will and we can depend on God’s POWER for it.
New BEHAVIOR - Requires new BELIEFS
Transformational Beliefs: I am a FAITHFUL SERVANT
Romans 12:1-2 (NLT) – And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice - the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
I am a FAITHFUL SERVANT in the house of God - doing my PART to build
Christ’s CHURCH and advance His MISSION.
Daniel 6:10-12 (NLT) – But, when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God. Then the officials went together to Daniel’s house and found him praying and asking for God’s help. So, they went straight to the king and reminded him about his law. “Did you not sign a law that for the next thirty days any person who prays to anyone, divine or human - except to you, Your Majesty - will be thrown into the den of lions?”
Daniel 6:16 (NLT) – So, at last the king gave orders for Daniel to be arrested and thrown into the den of lions. The king said to him, “May your God, whom you serve so faithfully, rescue you.”
Daniel 6:19-22 (NLT) – Very early the next morning, the king got up and hurried out to the lions’ den. When he got there, he called out in anguish, “Daniel, servant of the living God! Was your God, whom you serve so faithfully, able to rescue you from the lions?” Daniel answered, “Long live the king! My God sent his angel to shut the lions’ mouths so that they would not hurt me, for I have been found innocent in his sight. And I have not wronged you, Your Majesty.”
Faith + Faithful = Favor
Faithful in Three Areas:
SANCTIFYING, SHARING and SERVING.
