What is Celebrate Recovery?
We know life has problems, sometimes it seems like you can’t find any answers and you don’t know where to turn. The good news is there are answers and there is HOPE. We are here to help, here to listen, here to be your support with God as you walk through life’s struggles. Celebrate Recovery is a Biblical and balanced, Christ–centered recovery program for people with life hurts, hang-ups, and habits. Therefore, we rely on our higher power Jesus Christ to bring the healing we need in our lives and to walk closer with God and others.
What is the purpose of Celebrate Recovery?
The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to become free from our addictive, compulsive, and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates peace, serenity, and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others.
How Does Celebrate Recovery Change Lives?
Celebrate Recovery provides gender specific, safe small groups to share your experience, victories and hope with others who are working on their recovery from hurts, hang-ups, and habits. This program provides practical steps to develop and implement a new set of life changing skills. As you face your struggles, there will be others to provide support and encouragement when everything may seem hopeless.
Freedom is now. Hope is available. Healing is in reach. Celebrate Recovery is the first step. See you next Monday night. No registration needed. We meet on the Alamo Campus at 2501 Danville Blvd.
We have all been hurt or have hurt others. This program is for anyone and everyone who has a hurt, habit, or hang-up that has affected you, your relationship with others, and prevented you from receiving the fullness of God’s peace and grace. All life’s hurts, habits, and hang-ups are dealt within this one ministry.
What to Expect
You will be welcomed at our large group meetings which take place on Monday evenings. We have a time for music and worship followed by a lesson on one of the eight principles, or a testimony on how an individual’s life has been changed through Celebrate Recovery and God’s healing power. While others break into their small groups, newcomers will meet with two of our leaders for an explanation of the program and to answer any questions. At no time will you be asked to say anything or be put on the spot during the evening. Remember, this is a safe environment. Celebrate Recovery is an open ended drop-in program. Make the decision to come to your first meeting and check out what can be the possibilities for a new life. We look forward to seeing you!
Celebrate Recovery started 1991 at Saddleback Church. At that time the church was meeting at a high school gymnasium. After John Baker was unable to share openly about Jesus Christ in his secular recovery meetings and was uncomfortable sharing about his struggle with alcohol in his men’s Bible study, John wrote Pastor Rick the now famous concise 13-page single space letter outlining the vision God had given him for Celebrate Recovery. Pastor Rick said, “Great John, do it.”
The first night 45 people showed up and Celebrate Recovery was born. With only four groups, men’s and women’s chemical dependency and men’s and women’s codependency, the ministry has grown from those four groups to the twenty open share groups we have today. Thousands of people have gone through the workbooks and are now serving in CR and the church. Celebrate Recovery has become the number one outreach at Saddleback Church, with over 70% of its members come from outside the church.
The first ten years were the birth stage of Celebrate Recovery and now God is calling us to take it to the World. There are now thousands of groups around the world and growing. We are part of a movement that is bringing hurting and broken in the Church to the healing power of Jesus Christ.
